The Asia Securities Industry and Financial Markets Association (ASIFMA) and China Government Securities Depository Trust & Clearing Co., LTD (CDC) co-hosted a Repo and Securities Lending Seminar in Guilin, China on March 28-29 2007. More than 150 hands-on fixed-income professionals from Chinese banks, securities firms, funds and insurance companies participated in the two-day seminar.
ASIFMA invited Mr. Tak Eng, Managing Director of RBS Greenwich Capital, Mr. Bernard Chin, Executive Director of UBS Singapore and Ms. Hui Fong Tan, Associate Director of USB Securities (Beijing) to give lectures on Repo, Securities Lending, Settlement, Accounting, Documentation, Collateral Management and other relevant subjects.
The seminar was conducted completely in Chinese and all the teaching materials are bilingual in English and Chinese.
Mr. Shuhua Li, Director of Department of Accounting at China Securities Regulatory Commission (CSRC) also gave a speech on the New Accounting Principle and Securities Lending Business.
The feedback from attendees was very positive: the speakers gave them a broad view of how international financial markets function, current best practice and the front and back office functions. They especially liked the interactive way the lecturers conducted the lectures. There were always lively discussions after each session.
Our co-host CDC was also very happy about the result and appreciated the hard work of the lecturers and ASIFMA staff.
