Gerard Smith is currently Senior Vice President in Post Trade Business Development at HKEX.  Gerard leads the HKEX’s Distributed Ledger Technology (DLT) project to enhance the successful Stock Connect product.  Gerard also leads HKEX’s collateral initiatives.

Previously Product Director in Collateral and Liquidity Management at LCH Ltd, the world’s largest Clearing House.  Gerard led all projects involving cash and securities collateral, investment of margin cash, default management, relationships with settlement banks, market infrastructure, central banks and regulators.

Gerard has led change for over 15 years, with experience in trading, clearing, settlement, payments and collateral management.  He has also held positions with Euroclear and the Bank of England.

Gerard has a Master’s Degree in European Politics.
