James is a senior member of ASIC’s Markets Team and has extensive stakeholder engagement experience and has led or been involved in a range of strategic projects at ASIC. Recently, this has including engaging with market participants to understand how they are applying new market integrity rules aimed at promoting technological and operational resilience. James has extensive industry experience prior to joining ASIC from senior roles in equity capital markets origination and mergers & acquisitions advisory.

James holds honours degrees in law and economics, holds a legal practising certificate and has previously practised as a mergers & acquisitions lawyer. James regularly interacts with overseas regulators through work on International Organization of Securities Commissions (IOSCO) Committee 3 on the Regulation of Market Intermediaries. This has included playing a leading role in the preparation of IOSCO’s report on lessons learned from the operational resilience of trading venues and market intermediaries during the global pandemic.
