James has a wealth of experience in asset-backed finance and securitisation.

James is an asset-backed finance and securitisation lawyer, who has worked in both London and Hong Kong, with more than a decade of experience acting for arrangers, investors, banks and originators involving a wide variety of asset classes, including trade receivables, infrastructure, RMBS, CMBS, credit cards, auto-loans, consumer loans and corporate loans on complex cross-border transactions. He has established and restructured a variety of structured funding platforms, including ABCP conduits, structured corporate debt platforms, receivables and trade finance platforms and risk distribution programmes.

He also regularly advises on the regulatory aspects of asset-backed finance and securitisation transactions, particularly in relation to balance sheet management for banks and the patchwork of regulation now applicable to cross-border securitisation transactions.

James is a member of the executive committee of the Asia-Pacific Structured Finance Association and regularly contributes to industry events and initiatives, including advising the Reserve Bank of India’s 2019 committee for housing finance securitisation and editing and contributing to the APSA 2020 industry report “Hong Kong – A Securitisation Financing Hub”.
