Professional Experience

Josh is a Managing Director at Protiviti with over 15 years of compliance management experience for banking and financial services sector.  Prior to Protiviti, Josh was a Partner in Ernst & Young’s (“EY”) Financial Services Practice with a focus on Anti-Money Laundering and Counter Terrorism Financing (AML/CFT). Throughout Josh’s career, he also held senior positions with leading International banks, focusing on AML policy management, Transaction Monitoring and Investigations within APAC.

Major Projects

  • Conducted Trade Finance policy reviews in relation to definition of clients and monitoring scenarios

−Created new and optimized existing transaction monitoring scenarios, parameters and thresholds across a number of transaction monitoring systems

−Led backlog clearing projects on a number of occasions involving backlogs of over several thousand alerts in relation to trade finance monitoring

−Alert review in spreadsheets and monitoring tools

−Deep dive Reviews on trade finance AML investigations.

  • APAC SME for two Sec. 166 reviews in APAC for UK based Global Banks with significant APAC operations

−Focus on trade finance Transaction monitoring

−KYC file review and private wealth source of wealth

  • Led a significant transaction monitoring review for a large UK based Bank with significant Hong Kong operations on behalf of the HKMA

−Focus on trade finance Transaction monitoring

  • Managed the HK SFC inspections outsourced to EY for three years
  • Led a number of virtual banking HKMA AML/CFT assessments in phase 1 and 2 of the Hong Kong licensing scheme.
  • Led the creation of AML/CFT target operating models at a number of Banks both across the APAC region and globally inclusive of detailed reviews around:
