Paul Smith is Head of Markets, Japan, Asia North & Australia (JANA) cluster at Citi. Based in Hong Kong, he helps
develop and implement cluster and global product delivery strategies to a broad client franchise across the eight
countries and territories of the JANA cluster and focuses on bringing a cross product perspective to client solutions.
Paul is also responsible for managing and leading senior level regulatory relationships across the JANA cluster and
creating a strong risk management discipline and culture.

Prior to Paul’s appointment in 2023, Paul was Citi’s Global Head of Fixed Income Solutions Structuring. He led
teams across 10 countries delivering client solutions and new product capabilities such as funding (sovereign,
conventional and Islamic), hedging programmes, repackagings, de-risking positions, reduction and release of
regulatory capital and yield enhancement structures.

Paul has over 19 years of investment banking experience. Prior to joining investment banking, Paul was a solicitor at
a leading London law firm for 8 years specialising in derivatives and securitisations
