Sunil Kothare has worked closely with Government of India on a number of legislative areas including (a) Direct Taxes Code, 2009 (b) Goods and Services Tax (c) India-Mauritius Tax Treaty (d)(i) India’s international commitments under Foreign Accounts Tax Compliance Act of the US and (ii) on the Common Reporting Standards of the Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD). He has worked as a professional in the financial sector since 2003 to 2018 with Citigroup and now Senior Tax Counsel to HDFC Bank group.  He has also been a speaker at several industry and professional forums like ASSOCHAM, Institute of CAs of India, AMCHAM, FICCI, Indian Banks’ Association, Chamber of Tax Consultants
