Tristan Thompson is the Managing Partner of Optiver Asia Pacific (APAC). Based in Sydney, he has been with the global market maker for twenty-one years and plays a central role in shaping the region’s strategic direction and strengthening Optiver’s trading capabilities.

Tristan began his career at Optiver in 2005 as an Options Market Maker on the ASX, specialising in single stock and index options. His strong technical foundation and leadership skills saw him progress rapidly through several senior positions. He was appointed Head of Options Trading in 2014, before becoming Head of Trading for APAC in 2017. In 2026, he became Managing Partner for the region, marking a significant step in his long-standing contribution to Optiver’s business.

Throughout his career, Tristan has built extensive knowledge of trading across Asia Pacific markets and has been instrumental in developing high performing teams. He is committed to advancing Optiver’s trading excellence, fostering talent and supporting continued innovation across the organisation.

Tristan graduated from the University of New South Wales with a Co-op Scholarship in Accounting and Finance.
