Matthias (Matt) Egler is a Managing Director and Partner in BCG’s Sydney office. Matt leads BCG’s Asset Management practice and co-leads BCG’s Corporate Finance & Strategy (CFS) practice in Australia and New Zealand.

As a core member of BCG’s global Financial Institutions and Insurance practices, Matt has advised leading banks, wealth managers, asset managers, and superannuation funds across Australia, Asia, Europe, and the US. This advice has spanned topics such as growth and portfolio strategy, shareholder value creation, and corporate development – often in the context of evolving regulation and shifts in capital market.

Matt recently led work to shape wealth and investing strategies for one of Australia’s largest banks, define a strategy for private market capabilities and operations at a large Australian superannuation fund, support the divestment and repositioning of a major asset management business, and to design retirement-adjacent propositions such as home equity release.

Prior to BCG, Matt worked in M&A. He holds an MBA from UC Berkeley (Haas) and a BA from the Berlin School of Economics.
