Clara Ferreira Marques is a Columnist for Reuters Breakingviews, based in Singapore. Previously, she served as Companies Editor for Asia and acting Finance Editor for Asia, running coverage across the region.

Clara has been with Reuters for almost two decades and has reported from Russia, Central Asia, Italy, the Democratic Republic of Congo, South Africa and the UK, covering the financial sector before and during the 2008 crisis and most recently the global resources industry. She came to Asia as Bureau Chief for Reuters in Mumbai, in late 2014. She speaks languages that are of little use this side of the globe, but is now applying herself to Mandarin Chinese.
