Chin Ping is Managing Director and Head of Research APAC at MSCI. He is also a member of the MSCI Research Editorial Committee. Chin Ping leads a team of senior researchers to work with the world’s most sophisticated investors on a wide range of investment topics. He has broad experiences on asset allocation, portfolio construction and ESG integration and is the author of numerous research papers on emerging markets and factor investing.

Chin Ping is widely regarded as the industry expert on China and has played an instrumental role in bringing China A shares into the MSCI Emerging Markets Index. In this capacity, he is regularly consulted by regional regulatory and industry bodies to address capital market development issues. Prior to joining MSCI in 2001, Chin Ping was a buy‐side analyst at HSBC Asset Management covering telecommunication sector and held senior positions at the Ministry of Trade & Industry of Singapore.

Chin Ping currently serves multiple industry and academic boards including the Securities and Futures Commission of Hong Kong (Public Shareholder Group), the Asset Management Association of China (International Partners Committee) and the Quantitative Finance Program of the Chinese University of Hong Kong. He received a degree in Economics from the National University of Singapore and is a CFA Charter holder.
