Louis Kuijs is a macroeconomist who has worked on and in Asia since 2004. He recently joins the economics team of S&P Global Ratings as Chief Asia Economist. Previously, he was the Head of Asia Economics at Oxford Economics in Hong Kong, leading the firm’s economic research on Asia, with a focus on China. Louis earlier worked at the Royal Bank of Scotland as Chief Economist, Greater China, and before that as Project Director at the Fung Global Institute.

From 2004 to 2011, Kuijs was a Senior Economist at the World Bank in Beijing, coordinating the bank’s macroeconomic work on China. He led the bank’s “China Quarterly Update” and its medium-term review of China’s 11th five-year plan. He worked as a Senior Economist at the International Monetary Fund in Washington from 1997 to 2004 on policy dialogue and economic research.
