Dr Stratos Pourzitakis

Dr Stratos Pourzitakis works for HSBC, Group Public Affairs in Hong Kong as the Head of Digital Policy for the Asia Pacific. He leads HSBC’s policy advocacy and regulatory engagement activities in the region, with focus on digital assets and currencies, data governance and artificial intelligence. He is also a lecturer at the Chinese University of Hong Kong, School of Governance and Policy Science. Before joining HSBC, he held senior roles at CFA Institute, Asian Private Banker, and the Greek Ministry of Finance.

Dr Pourzitakis is the co-founder of the Greek Chamber of Commerce in Hong Kong and serves as a Vice-Chair at the Europe Committee of the Hong Kong General Chamber of Commerce, the European Chamber of Commerce, as well as at the ASIFMA Fintech Working Group. He is also a frequent guest lecturer at universities in the APAC, including the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology and Xi’an Jiaotong-Liverpool University.

Dr Pourzitakis holds a Ph.D. in Government and International Studies from Hong Kong Baptist University, a Master’s in International Public Policy from Osaka University, and a Bachelor’s in Accounting and Finance.

In the past, his research was funded by the European Commission, the Japanese Ministry of Education, and the Konrad Adenauer Foundation. Dr Pourzitakis’ publication record includes peer-reviewed journal papers, chapter in edited volumes and articles published by think-tanks and media including Carnegie Europe and Foreign Affairs.
