Ian Drew is currently Regional Head of Climate and Nature-Related Risk, Asia at HSBC. His responsibilities include implementing all aspects of the Bank’s approach to the managing of these risks across the region.

Following his undergraduate degree in Chemistry at Oxford University, and training as a Chartered Accountant with one of the Big 4 Firms, Ian entered banking in 1993.

Initially working within the front office on the financing of environmental, social, transport and energy infrastructure in mature and emerging markets in Europe and Latin America, he moved to a wholesale credit risk role in Europe, focusing on the resources and energy, transportation and construction and building materials sectors. This latter role included responsibility for Sustainability Risk in Europe.

Ian moved to Asia in 2011 and has had wholesale credit roles as well as roles in regional frameworks, oversight and governance since that time.
