James Sun is the Head of Asia of Tradeweb, a leading global operator of electronic marketplaces for rates, credit, equities and money markets. Based in Shanghai, James is responsible for all of Tradeweb’s business operations in Asia, including offices in Hong Kong, Tokyo, Singapore.

Most recently James served as Chief Executive Officer of Harvest Global Investments Limited (HGI), the overseas arm of Harvest Fund Management, a $150 billion top 3 fund manager in China. As CEO based in Hong Kong, and leader of HGI & subsidiaries; HGI (USA),(UK) & the alternative investment platform, Harvest Global Capital Investment, James designs and executes group overseas strategies. James is also company ambassador and top-level authority on global strategic partnerships. He also oversees and coordinates institution, retail, capital, alternatives & wealth resources between the group’s 8 domestic enterprises.

James is an entrepreneurial, financially-astute CEO with vast expertise across both asset and wealth management together with an exceptional record connecting global corporate strategies with local (Asia/China) markets. Prior to HGI, apart from a successful interlude as senior VP at HSBC Private Bank in Hong Kong, James enjoyed an exemplary 18-year career with Charles Schwab, the largest publicly traded investment services firm in the US; rising from investment specialist to MD Asia Pacific; managing the firm’s business in Asia, maximising investments and driving unprecedented asset growth.

A CSR champion and former chairman of AmCham in Hong Kong, James is proud of his contribution to the Hong Kong/China/USA social and international business community. James sits on several influential boards, including the China Asset Management Association in Hong Kong, advises Government agencies, counsels major think tanks and has carved a reputation in the global investment sphere as the go-to China specialist. An accomplished communicator and presenter, James has built powerful strategic relations with regulatory bodies, corporate leaders and financial institutions across Asia, Europe and the US.
