With over 25 years of Japanese equity investment experience, Kashima joined BNY Mellon in April 2013 from ING Mutual Funds. In her role at BNY Mellon, she leads the Tokyo-based team and is ultimately responsible for all of its investment strategies. She has extensive experience in managing funds, both retail and institutional, for Japanese and overseas clients.

A Japanese national educated at the University of British Columbia in Canada, Kashima started her career as a Japan equity analyst in 1985 at Morgan Grenfell, which became Deutsche Asset Management. She became a fund manager in 1987, and in 1997, head of Japanese equities at Chase Trust Bank. She moved to Merrill Lynch Investment Managers (now BlackRock) in 2000. At ING, Kashima was widely credited with transforming the Japanese equity team’s investment process and performance.
