Wee Kian has been Chief Executive Officer of DBS Digital Exchange
(DDEx) since November 2023.
DDEx is the world’s first full-service digital exchange backed by a bank.
A members-only exchange, it enables corporate and institutional
investors, accredited investors and family offices to tap into the digital
asset economy through its regulated platform that integrates trading,
custody and tokenisation.
Wee Kian was previously Regional Head of FX, Treasury and Markets
at DBS Bank, where he was responsible for trading in Korea, Indonesia,
India, Vietnam and London. He was instrumental in setting up DBS’
offshore Treasury in Vietnam and London and played key roles in
digitising the bank’s FX products. He joined DBS Bank in 2004 as Head
of Regional Currency Trading.
Prior to joining DBS Bank, Wee Kian held various Portfolio Manager and
FX Trading roles JL Capital Hedge Fund, Barclays and UBS.
Wee Kian is currently a Board Director of iFast Corp. An active
contributor to the finance industry, he recently participated in a global
initiative under Bank of International Settlements to establish the FX
Global Code, a set of principles of good practice to promote the integrity
and effective functioning of the wholesale foreign exchange market.
Following the currency-fixing issues that occurred in Singapore in 2013,
Wee Kian was a key member of The Association of Banks in Singapore’s
working group to achieve an unbiased NDF fixing reference for the
market.
Wee Kian holds a Bachelor of Business from Nanyang Technological
University Singapore.
