Johann Santer is the Regional Lead for Wholesale, alongside his role as Head of Private Banking, Wealth and Strategic Clients, APAC ex-Japan. As Fidelity’s largest client channel in the region and one that is increasingly aligned to wealth, Johann is responsible for the Wholesale strategy across locations, working closely with country and Wholesale heads in the region. In addition, Johann took on the overall responsibility for the ISS Distribution business in Hong Kong which spans across Private Banking, Wholesale and Institutional clients in HK and China. Johann joined Fidelity in 2018 and has led the successful buildout of our private banking and wealth franchise in the region, adding coverage of Hong Kong and Singapore Wholesale in 2021.

Johann has 20 years of industry experience, mainly in the asset management and private banking industry. Prior to joining Fidelity, he was Managing Director and Head of Investment Specialists, Funds Hong Kong, at Bank Julius Baer for 3.5 years and before that he was in charge of Asian and later global fund distribution for a leading quant based Hedge Fund for almost 10 years. He has lived in Asia for the past 17 years, running distribution efforts in Asia, including Japan.

Johann graduated with a master’s degree in Banking and Finance from the University of Applied Science BFI Vienna. After completing graduate studies in Montreal at McGill, he started his career at the Credit and Rating Department at the Central Bank of the Republic of Austria (OeNB).
