Mr Steve Poon is an Associate Director in the Intermediaries Supervision Department of the Intermediaries Division of the Hong Kong Securities and Futures Commission. He is primarily responsible for leading and conducting onsite inspections of global financial institutions in Hong Kong. In addition to that, he covers cybersecurity for Intermediaries Supervision department, including the development of the cybersecurity baseline requirements that came into effect in 2018. He is also currently working on the Suptech project which aims to set the data standard for high volume trading firms in the market. Prior to joining the SFC, Steve worked at two investment banks for more than a decade, specializing in the risk and control areas.
